ISLAND HUSTLE
OUR STORY

THE BRAND
This is Island Hustle
“Island” speaks to our roots. “Hustle” captures the identity of the game.
Together, they form a brand grounded in place, pride, and purpose.
This is where basketball, culture, and community collide.
Welcome to the Hustle.

THE ORIGIN
From Off Season Runs, To A Movement

It started with a group of elite local athletes coming together for high-level pickup runs during Tasmania’s unforgiving off-season. That spark became momentum, and the Tassie Summer Slam was born.
In Year Two, the league took a major leap forward. A structured draft system was introduced, professional standards were lifted, and the competition began gaining serious traction.
Now in Year Three, we’ve evolved into Island Hustle. A bold new identity with greater purpose.
It’s about building something bigger. For the game. For Tasmania. For the next generation.

THE LEAGUE
How it works, where it happens
The 2025 Island Hustle season kicks off with statewide Expressions of Interest for players and coaches.
Coaches are appointed based on experience and leadership, filling roles across head, co-head, assistant, and development positions.
Tryouts follow, with the Top 40 Women and Top 50 Men selected for the official Draft Pool.
From there, the draft takes center stage. Coaches build their franchises through a live snake format, with the event broadcast and players invited to be in the room as teams take shape.
The season runs from mid-September to early December at Warrane Stadium in Hobart, with games every Friday and Saturday night.
Women tip off between 6-6:30 PM. Men follow at 7:30-8:00 PM.
A new era of basketball is here. Don’t just hear about it. Experience it.

THE MISSION
Inspire. Unite. Elevate.
Island Hustle exists to connect Tasmania’s basketball community through a platform built on opportunity, professionalism, and pride.
Our mission is to create something bigger than the game itself. A system that reflects who we are, supports those within it, and lifts the standard for what basketball can be across the Island.
More than a game.
